Bremen, 6 November 2025 – Energiekontor AG (“Energiekontor”), a leading German project developer and operator of wind and solar parks based in Bremen and listed in the General Standard, reached financial close for its wind park projects in Frechen and Nideggen, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Wulkow-Boossen, Brandenburg. The projects are now ready for construction.
After Energiekontor successfully participated in the Federal Network Agency’s EEG tender in February 2025 with the three approved wind park projects Frechen, Wulkow-Booßen and Nideggen comprising a total nominal capacity of around 73 megawatts, they recently reached financial close and are therefore ready for construction. According to current planning, all three wind parks are scheduled to go into operation in 2027.
Three Nordex wind turbines, each with a nominal power of 4.5 megawatts, are to be erected at the site in Frechen in the Rhine-Erft district of North Rhine-Westphalia. The new N149-4.5 turbines have a hub height of approximately 125 metres and a rotor diameter of 149 metres. Eight Vestas wind turbines, each with a generating capacity of 6.0 megawatts, are planned for the Wulkow-Boossen site in the Märkisch-Oderland district of Brandenburg. The V150-6.0 turbines have a hub height of approximately 166 metres and a rotor diameter of 150 metres. Two Enercon wind turbines, each with a nominal power of approximately 5.6 megawatts, are planned for the site in Nideggen, in the Düren district of North Rhine-Westphalia. The E-160 EP5 E3 turbines have a hub height of roughly 167 metres and a rotor diameter of 160 metres. The average expected annual yield of all the three wind parks starting from the first full year of operation is around 156 gigawatt hours – enough to supply more than 47,700 average households in Germany with renewable electricity and eliminate around 118,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
Including these projects, Energiekontor now has already achieved financial close for twelve wind and solar projects with a total capacity of approximately 326 megawatts in the 2025 financial year. This means that 19 projects with over 610 megawatts are currently being built – including several projects totalling around 200 megawatts for the Group’s own park portfolio, as well as three turnkey projects in Germany that have already been sold and will contribute to Group earnings in the 2026 financial year once they are commissioned as planned.
“We understand that the recent adjustment to our forecast for 2025 has caused uncertainty among our investors,” says Peter Szabo, CEO of Energiekontor AG. “However, this was carried out in line with our obligation of transparency and disclosure. At the same time, I would like to emphasise that the reasons are purely temporal and do not affect the substance of our projects. Energiekontor is stronger than ever in terms of its operations: we have a large number of approved projects and our construction activities are at a historically high level. This demonstrates that we are continuing to implement our projects successfully and sustainably – even if this strength will be reflected in the figures with a time lag due to the current change in conditions.”
About Energiekontor AG
For 35 years, Energiekontor has stood for a solid business policy and extensive experience in renewable energies. Founded in Bremerhaven, Germany, in 1990, the company is among the pioneers in its industry and is now one of Germany’s leading project developers. Its core business ranges from the planning and construction to the operational management of wind and solar parks in Germany and abroad. In addition, Energiekontor operates 40 wind and solar parks with a total nominal power of around 450 megawatts in its own portfolio. Around 200 megawatts, which are also earmarked for the Group's own portfolio, are currently under construction. Energiekontor also plays a pioneering role in economic terms and aims to realise the first wind and solar parks in all target markets at market prices as quickly as possible, independently of state subsidies.
Along with its headquarters in Bremen, Germany, Energiekontor has offices in Bremerhaven, Hagen im Bremischen, Aachen, Augsburg, Berlin, Potsdam and Hildesheim. The company also has branch offices in England, Scotland, Portugal, France and the United States.
Since being established, Energiekontor has a proud track record of realising more than 170 wind and solar park projects with a total nominal power of over 1.5 gigawatts. This corresponds to an investment volume of more than 2.3 billion euros. The significantly expanded project pipeline in the 2024 financial year (11.2 gigawatts excluding US project rights) shows the future growth potential and the possible contribution that Energiekontor can make to the expansion of renewable energies.
Energiekontor AG (WKN 531350/ISIN DE0005313506/General Standard) is listed on the SDAX of the German Stock Exchange in Frankfurt. Shares can be traded on all German stock markets.
